Ingredients

  • 4–5 medium potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet work great)

  • 2 cups water or broth (just enough to barely cover the potatoes)

  • 2–3 tbsp butter

  • 1–1½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Optional:

    • A splash of milk or cream for creamier texture

    • Onion powder or garlic powder

    • Chopped parsley

1. Prep the potatoes

  • Peel the potatoes.

  • Cut them into 1-inch chunks (not too small or they'll fall apart).
