🥬 Old-Fashioned Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

⭐ Ingredients
For the Cabbage Rolls

1 large head green cabbage
-
1 lb ground beef (or mix beef + pork)
-
1 cup cooked rice
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 egg
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
For the Tomato Sauce
-
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
-
1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
-
2 tablespoons tomato paste
-
1 tablespoon brown sugar
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon vinegar (white or apple cider)
-
Salt & pepper to taste
🍽️ Instructions
1. Prep the Cabbage

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Core the cabbage and carefully place the whole head into the boiling water.

Cook 5–8 minutes until leaves soften.
-
Remove outer leaves gently; repeat until you have 12–14 workable leaves.

Trim the thick stem/rib so the leaves roll easily.

2. Make the Filling
In a large bowl combine:

Ground beef
-
Cooked rice
-
Chopped onion
-
Garlic
-
Egg
-
Salt, pepper, paprika
Mix gently until combined.
3. Assemble the Rolls

Lay a cabbage leaf flat.

Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling at the stem end.

Fold sides in, then roll up tightly like a burrito.

Place seam-side down in a Dutch oven or deep baking dish.
