Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Melt the butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish (you can pop the dish in the oven while it preheats).

  3. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and milk together until smooth.

  4. Pour the batter into the dish over the melted butterdo not stir.

  5. Spoon the fruit (and its syrup) evenly over the top of the batter — again, don’t stir.

  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

  7. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. 🍦


💡 Tips & Variations:

  • If you don’t have self-rising flour, mix:
    → 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1½ tsp baking powder + ¼ tsp salt

  • Try with fresh berries, apples + cinnamon, or cherries for different versions.

  • For a less sweet version, reduce sugar to ¾ cup.
