🌶️ Homemade Chili (Classic & Hearty)

Ingredients

Base

  • 1–1.5 lbs ground beef (or turkey, pork, or a mix)

  • 1 large onion, diced

  • 1 green bell pepper, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Liquids & Tomatoes

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

  • 1 (14–15 oz) can diced tomatoes

  • 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste

  • 1–2 cups beef broth (adjust for thickness)

Beans (optional — add or skip!)

  • 1 can kidney beans, drained

  • 1 can black beans or pinto beans, drained

Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp chili powder

  • 1 tbsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp salt (to taste)

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½–1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 tsp sugar (balances acidity)

Optional Flavors

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp tomato jam or ketchup

  • 1 tsp cocoa powder (adds depth!)

  • ½ tsp cinnamon (very subtle warmth)
