Instructions

  1. Heat the oil

    • In a deep pot or skillet, heat 1–2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Make the batter

    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    • In another bowl, whisk the egg, milk, and vanilla.

    • Pour wet ingredients into the dry and whisk until smooth.

    • Batter should be slightly runny (like pancake batter).

      • Too thick? Add 1–2 tbsp milk.

  3. Fry the bites

    • Use a squeeze bottle, piping bag, or spoon to drop small blobs of batter into the hot oil.

    • Fry 1–2 minutes per side, until golden and puffy.

    • Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. Add the magic ✨

    • Dust generously with powdered sugar.

    • Optional toppings: chocolate drizzle, caramel, cinnamon sugar, or strawberry sauce.


Tips

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—fry in batches.

  • Batter can rest 5–10 minutes for a smoother texture.

  • Want it extra crisp? Add 1 tablespoon cornstarch to the dry mix.
