Oreo Layered Halloween Brownies are gooey, chocolatey, and topped with festive orange frosting 🎃🎃🎃 INGREDIENTS: 1 Brownie Mix. 2 eggs. 1/3 cup oïl. 1/3 cup milk.

4. Bake

Bake in the pre-heated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not completely dry). One blog: “Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick in the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs.” My Homemade Recipe

Avoid over-baking, because you want fudgy brownies, not dry cake-like ones.

5. Cool completely

This is an important step: let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. One blog emphasises: “Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack. This keeps the Oreo layer intact and prevents your frosting from melting later.” My Homemade Recipe+1

If the brownies are still warm when you spread frosting, the frosting may melt/slide and the layers will blur.

6. Prepare the orange frosting layer

While the brownie is cooling, prepare the orange frosting layer:

In a bowl, take the white/vanilla frosting.

(Optionally) scrape the orange centers of about 10 OREO cookies and stir them into the frosting for extra flavour and a bit of texture. One blog: “Mix the white or vanilla frosting with the orange centers of about 10 Oreos.” My Homemade Recipe

Add 1 teaspoon of orange food-coloring gel (or more to taste) and mix until you reach a vivid orange. If you want an even bolder color, you can add more. My Homemade Recipe

7. Spread the orange layer and chill

After the brownies are fully cooled, spread the orange frosting layer evenly over the top with an offset spatula or butter knife. Then place the pan in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so the frosting layer firms up and holds its shape. My Homemade Recipe

Chilling makes slicing neater and keeps the layers defined.

8. Add chocolate frosting layer & topping

After the orange layer is set:

Remove the brownies from the fridge.

Spread a layer of milk-chocolate frosting over the orange layer evenly. One blog: “Remove the Brownies from the refrigerator and frost with the chocolate frosting, and crumble the remainder of the Oreos on top.” Kitchen Fun With My 3 Sons+1

Crumble the remaining OREO cookies and sprinkle them over the chocolate frosting (or you can also add Halloween sprinkles or candy eyes for extra decoration).

This gives you the final layer and that crunchy cookie topping.
