Puffy Twist Donut

🍩 Puffy Twist Donuts (Korean “Kkwabaegi”-Style)

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 ÂĽ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 egg

  • Âľ cup warm milk

  • 3 tbsp melted butter (or oil)

For coating:

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1–2 tsp cinnamon (optional)


Instructions

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk + sugar + yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add the egg and melted butter and mix.

  3. Add flour + salt and stir until a dough forms.

  4. Knead for 5–8 minutes (until smooth and stretchy).

  5. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until doubled.


2. Shape the Twists

  1. Punch the dough down gently.

  2. Divide into 10–12 pieces.

  3. Roll each piece into a rope (about 8–10 inches long).

  4. Hold both ends and twist 5–6 times.

  5. Press the ends together to seal.

  6. Let rest for 10–15 minutes so they get puffy again.
